Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and LINUS Capital sign MOU
As part of its new ICT Policy
the Government of Andhra Pradesh is actively
promoting setting up of IT units in tier-II cities of
the state as well. Many NRIs are showing active interest
in coming to Andhra Pradesh and establishing IT/ITES
units. Warangal
has already attracted one company from New Jersey, USA
which has been allocated 10 acres of land. Today an MOU
has been signed by Secretary IT GoAP with Mr. Sunny
Burra, Managing Director of LINUS Capital an investment
group based in San Francisco, California for setting up
of their unit in Warangal.

The MOU has been exchanged today (29th
November 2005) in the presence of Hon’ble Chief
Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy,
who had appreciated the enthusiasm and initiative shown
by the NRI Mr. Sunny in promoting IT industry in his
native district of Warangal. An area of 5 acres of land
has been allocated to LINUS.
LINUS plans to start its IT
operations (LINUS Infotech)
in Warangal within next six months and plans to hire 500
people within couple of years. Mr. Sunny Burra, is an
alumni of NIT(R.E.C) Warangal and has an MBA from
University of Chicago. He has plans to grow LINUS
Infotech with a combination
of organic and acquisition growth, acquiring North
American based companies.
Sunny states “we preferred Warangal, for the
availability of the talent pool, ability to retain
employees (less churn), lower cost structure and traffic
compared to the metros such as Bangalore, Mumbai, etc.”
